Small Is Powerful And Sustainable: Nanoparticle Enabled Formulation And Drug Delivery Solutions

Discover how Nanoform’s revolutionary and environmentally sustainable nanoparticle technologies coupled with its’ innovative formulation approaches can not only address drug solubility issues, but also add value for patients in novel drug delivery applications.

We provide an overview of our green, patented, nanoparticle formulation technologies for both small and large molecules. We cover the Controlled Expansion of Supercritical Solutions (CESS®) technology, which can generate nanoparticles down to sub 200nm and in some cases as small as 10nm, directly from solution through a crystallisation/precipitation process which is excipient free.

This is followed by an overview of our newly patented large molecule, nanoparticle technology that is able to engineer biological nanoparticles as small as 50nm. We also introduce a new proprietary formulation platform developed by Nanoform to nanocrystallize, amorphous nanoparticles whilst retaining their nano size.

Nanoform presents several case studies that demonstrate the power of nanoparticles across many types of formulations. We cover case studies on ‘How Drug Delivery is Enabling a Clinical Trial for Glioblastoma’ and ‘Piroxicam – Simplifying Oral Formulations’. Then finally a review of how API nanoformed particles produced through Nanoform’s CESS® technology can deliver sustained release properties and significant reduction in burst effect in long acting injectables. This is exemplified in our collaboration data set with Celanese VitalDose® EVA copolymer delivery technology for drug-eluting implants where we show we can enable enhanced sustained release properties and reduce the initial burst release of a drug, which is a persistent challenge in high drug load implants. The increased drug load enabled by the nanoformed particles also allows smaller implants with sustained release properties to be developed.
